This website provides a brief overview of the five case studies for the IEA Bioenergy intertask project on biomass pretreatment for thermal conversion. The case studies have been defined together with the authors, keeping in mind their potential impact on the short run for enlarging the biomass resource base. All technology concepts described could in principle be replicated elsewhere on a commercial basis within approx. 10 years, once they are successfully demonstrated.
